I think there are pigletts in Heaven or at least something comparable. We won't
loose anything good that we have now and everything that seems bad will be made
good and the best is yet to come. I learned that from a guy on the net at
haventoday.org.
Chris sent me your ride site. It is very interesting
.Becky and I are living it through you . Some of the guys at work are watching
too . They all expressed surprise that you were doing it on a sportster. We
think you were smart to lay over. Push it too much and it takes the fun out of
it. You are doing a great job even with your time management . Most guys would
wait till it was over before working up the site. This is great!! Our sympathy
with you on the unwelcomed camping . We did that once in Va. I slept with my
pants on but the guy left us alone.
I am Chris' dad. I'll attach the
picture of the bike Chris gave me as a retirement gift last May. We have just
turned over 10,000 smiles on it and the tires are showing wear. How's yours?
It's a great ride and a great site and a great life. We appreciate you
Ted. Chris and Becky

Hey Ted,
Oh man! Anyone's worst nightmare HAS to be running out of gas in the middle
of the desert!!! What as bummer. I hope that was all the crappy luck for
your trip. The rest should be wonderful after having to deal with that.
Won't be long before you're at the California destination. At that point
you'll have a week's (or is it two?) vacation. Are you still enthusiastic?
I hope so, cause you'll still have plenty of adventures on the trip back
(and they just HAVE to be GOOD adventures!).
So....take care and the BEST to you for the remainder of your trip.
Ciao,
Arni

Hello Ted,
This is Steve. I read the blurb about me on your site, thanks for including
me in your big ride. Quick note, I am seasonal Staff at Philmont Scout Ranch,
which is why I happened to be in Cimarron. And Bikers are good people, I have
met quite a few in my travels. This is my 6th summer working for Philmont. Its
really exciting to witness your x-country ride. I am so Jealous. I had
originally planned on riding to New Mexico from Michigan, but my '74 Honda CL360
wont really be comfortable making the trip. (although i have hear of alot of
people who did similar trips in the late 60s/early 70s on bikes of a similar
size, however, the bikes werent 32 yrs old.) I was looking at getting something
similar to a Honda CB 650 or 750 and attempting the trip on that, but due to
time and financial matters, I didnt have a chance to put that together. Thanks
for including me in your site, I look forward to hearing more about your trip as
it progresses.
Have a great ride,
I hope you collect some great stories about the people you meet along the
way.
Steve

MR.Baird, As soon as you get home please check yourself in to the nearest
Hospital. You are not well, you need a Doctor. "What the Heck were you
thinking!" And Thanks for letting us join you on your odyssey across this great
land. But i still think you need a Doctor.
Good
Luck
Ride
Safe,

Glad to see your still having fun. We also just returned from a fun week in
Canada-- on PEI. For one reason or another thou we were without Internet
communication. So it is good to get back here on the Vineyard and get the
laptop going again.
You appear to be on the last lap of your trip and still going strong. You hit
some of the same places in the mid west we hit last Fall--they are such great
stops. We are going to have to compare notes when you get back.
Hang in there,
Jim Cademartori

Ted, looks like you're on the home stretch. How are you going to be able to
go back to R&E and sit in the basement? (But don't start thinking about that
yet) Maybe you should turn around and go back the long way - re-trace your
entire trip back to MD.
Hope you don't hit too much rain. It's raining here again tonight. We've
only had 1 nice day since we've been here. But it beats work also.
They let you back in the US. Did they ask where you were from? That
border crossing must not be too busy. They showed pictures on tv of one of the
Interstate crossings and it was really backed up after they caught those guys in
Canada. We're off to Montreal on Sat.
Looks like the pipes are staying on.

Hi Ted,
Hope you arrived safe an sound (not to wet I hope) at your Mom's in Dumont. Ed wants to know how the route 7 ride was all the way down. Continue to have a safe ride back home and our best to Claudia. It was such a wonderful treat an surprise to have you stop in for a visit. We certainly enjoyed having you. And listening to your stories about your experiences on the road was just terrific. Please try to keep in touch - drop a line or two when you have a free moment every now an then. I'll try an do the same. Take care and I hope it doesn't take 33 more years for us to see one another again. Remember you (Claudia too) are welcome here anytime. Take Care Bro and Happy Trails!!!

We’re going to be sad to
not have your website to watch each day!
We have really enjoyed
your trip ---- better you doing the riding than either one of us, for
sure!!!!
You did a FANTASTIC job with your journal, pictures, and
maps.
Will you print it all out when you get home and keep a book
of your adventure?
Thanks for letting us vicariously take a trip
across this big country and back, including a little trip to Canada to boot.
Take care; safe trip home.
Ciao,
Arni & Pete

Ted,
Jean Edwards shared your site with me and I have truly enjoyed it. I am a former Honda and Kawasaki owner and often long for another bike. Thanks for helping me “ride” again through your writings and photographs.

Dear Ted, You are an amazing guy who did an amazing feat. Only you know how much inner and outer strength that took. Your wife must be made of pretty tough stuff too.
Your site ought to be in the library of Congress or someplace more prominent. Yought to run for president.
You gave us the shudders when you were gone off into the Adirondacks and Vermont. We didn't hear from you. I was a wondering. We have those seasonal roads around
here that go over the mountains, I know the feeling. Washouts, loose gravel, downed trees; Ya worry about the bike more than yourself. Congratulations too you both, and
nice job little piglet. That was a lot of goin. I bet the HD folks would be interested.
By the way what other feats have you accomplished. You mentioned tracking your Porsche, and what ya got in mind next.
We thoroughly enjoyed the trip with you Ted. Love from here, Chris and Becky Williamson

Hi, Ted,
I just finished catching up on the last few days of your trip. Let me just
"cut to the chase" and say that the whole adventure was just amazing. Your
photos and description are so outstanding that I felt like I was in the sidecar
(without the bugs in my teeth and the rain in my face).
My favorite photo by far was of your mother on the Harley. It's easy to
see where you get your famous smile.
Welcome home and thanks for sharing your experiences with those of us who
feel the need for four wheels under us. I don't plan to buy a Harley, but you
have definitely inspired me to spend more time OFF the Interstate.
Welcome home - Bob
